Hybrid and sovereign placement
Map the control plane, copies, operations and recovery by location.
Draw the data plane and the control plane.
List raw data, transformed copies, backups, telemetry, credentials and catalog metadata. Record the location and operator for each. A local data store can still depend on a remote identity system, control plane or support process.
Test the recovery region explicitly.
Run a recovery drill against a known failure and write down the target location, recovery time and recovery point. Include temporary working storage, key dependencies and the ability to rebuild a catalog or reconnect an engine.
Compare local and regional economics.
A local operating model can reduce transfers and increase hands-on support. A regional service can shift effort while adding storage, transfer or coordination costs. Compare both under the same workload demand and document the sensitivities.
